First Haul!!

Excitement!!! my first haul ever!!
:)
it's only mini but still exciting right? :)

I was on a lunch break and of corse popped into Boots
That morning i was frantically trying to find my Cover Girl Lash Blast (my favourite ever mascara) and i couldn't.

So in boots i spotted this offer

If you bought No7. Extreme Length Mascara you could get free A No7 brush roll with 4 brushes.
and who doesn't enjoy freebies? !?!
i certainly love them!

The mascara cost £12.00
You can purchase from the boots website too

I have never purchased a boots No7 mascara before, and i haven't done any research into it. It was a spur of the moment purchase.

THE BRUSHES:

The Brushe set comes with four brushes,:
An Eye Shadow Brush
A Shader Brush
A Smudge Brush
A Liner Brush

The quality of the brushes is surprising good:

This is the Eye Shadow Brush:
This is a fluffy lid brush
Perfect for placing the eye colour, it's fairly large, so is easy to cover the whole lid or to apply highlight.

This is the Shader Brush:
An angled fluffy brush
Perfect for blending out harsh edges or applying the crease colour/contouring the eye.

The Smudge Brush: (my favourite)
a small domed brush
Good for applying a dark colour to the outer v for a smoky look, or applying colour on the lower lash line.
i love to use it for just smudging a bronzey colour around the eye, perfect for a summer look.

The Liner Brush: (i hate it!)
It has some kind of glue on the end, making it a deadly poking weapon!
DEFIANTLY DO NOT USE IT TO LINE YOUR EYE! unless you are looking for that red scratchy look (personally not my favourite!!)
This is the only thing that lets this brush set down

Each brush is good quality, the handle is black plastic, sound tacky?! it's not too bad, the shaft is black too, and each brush is embellished in the No7 signature gold writing of the brush name and the No7 logo.

The brush roll
When i first got it home it spelt of one of those cheap plastic pencil cases that we used to have when we were little... rather tacky!!

The outside is some sort of pleather/plastic finish?! Black with gold swirls.
The inside carries this pattern on.
The roll is split into thirds, on the outer two there is a descent size mirror (one of those bendy ones you get in cheap make-up bags.. i think we all know the ones! [bad times]). But descent none the less.
On the other side it has instructions:
"enhance the 'smoky Eyes' look with No7 Extreme Length Mascara"
basically it gives No7 colours to use with the brushes to create the "perfect smoky eye"
useful i guess, if you have the colours, but obviously it is there for a marketing ploy, you can use any colours with these brushes of corse!

I am doing a separate review with the mascara, and a tutorial style thing using the brushes and mascara, so watch out :)!

If you are in England i hope you have enjoyed today's lovely weather!

And i hope everyone has had a lovely day

Take care,
Sarah :)! x

Old Comparison

Here is one of my old posts a comparison between two foundations which you might enjoy :)!!
*i found the make-up bag a week after this post, so no need to panic ;)! hehe*
And since I have owed MACS studio fix foundation (i loveee!)
so i will do a post on that!

Okay, so as of quite resently, i have lost my make-up bag!
And in it was all my 'good' 'everyday' make-up.
And much to my dispare it contained my MAC Studio Sculpt foundation and concealer.
Which is my holy grail at the moment as my skin is not looking it's best.
it makes my skin look even, clear and has a natural healthy dewy glow ito it- who could ask for more?:)
SO as i was getting ready to go out this morning, i dug deep in to my foundations and re-discovered my Revlon Colour Stay liquid foundation.
This foundation has been very comparable to MAC foundation- mainly Studio Finish. As i have not tryed that foundation, i am using this opotunity to compare the MAC Studio Sculpt foundation and the Revlon Colour Stay foundation:
Colours:
I am an NW20 in MAC studio sculpt- i am quite pale-.
and 18c Sand Beige in Revlons
both look natural on my skin, and don't look orangy.
Application:
I use my fingers for both, i have tryed brushes and sponges, but i find using my fingers is the best way to acheive that natural look.
However the Revlon Colour Stay, is much thicker, and needs to be blended quite quickly otherwise it will streak!
The Studio Sculpt is easier to blend as it is smoother consistancy, and much lighter feeling.

Cost:
It is obvious that Revlon will be cheaper- it is £11.47 at Superdrug who are having a 3 for 2 offer at the moment.
Studio Sculpt costs £22.50 at MAC
both product amounts are 30ml or 1 Fl Oz.
Look on the skin:
Revlon's marketed to give 'flawless looking skin'. and a look that 'looks fresh and feels great for up to 16 hours' which feels 'lightweight' and comfortable'
MACs is Marketed to be a 'gel-based foundation that provides medium buildable to high coverage with a natural satin finish' it also says that skin will be 'smooth, soft and plush. and is also 'Long-wearing, water-resistant.'
Both turn out just as they say, however when using the Studio Sculpt i always set with either my MAC skin finish natural in light, or Collection 2000 perfecting minerals otherwise my face does look a little too shiny -in my opinion-.
Where as the revlon does not need the powder, it has a much more of a matte finish to it.

OVERVIEW:
MAC gives a more dewy, satin finish and Revlon gives a more matte finish.
both have about the same covarage, however MAC is more buildable, Revlons can look too 'cakey' if built up too much.

this is a picture of revlons foundation it looks matte, and my skin looks even and clear.

This is a (not so flattering) picture of me with Studio sculpt- Much more dewy looking but very good coverage.

Colour range:

MAC- 23 colour choices

Revlon-20 colour choices. Which is really good for a drug store foundation.

Okay, so there is my little comparison, hopefully you found it usefull! :) :)
Take Care. x

Favourite Blush Combo

My new favourite Blush comb at the moment is Well Dressed and Rhapsody In Two
These two blushes compliment each other very well, and both can be used on there own or in
conjunction with other items.

I think these are perfect for summer.

Rhapsody In Two
This is a mineralize blush, the picture is quite true to life. It contains a a light baby-doll pink with gold under tones, and a light pinky gold colour.
They can be used as separate colours, e.g the pink on the apple of the cheeks and the gold as a highlight. I even use the gold on the inner corner if my eye which looks lovely.

Here are the two colours separably:
The colours are gorgeous on there own, and being a mineralize blush, they have a wonderful illuminating sheen to them.
Here is the blend of the two:
The pink is muted out, and the gold shines through more, it is perfect as a highlight or to illuminate the apple of the cheeks.

Well Dressed
This is the infamous blush, everyone loves it, as do i :)
it's the perfect shade to accompany a simple look or dramatic evening look. It injects a fresh flush of colour to the cheek, and gives a "healthy" finish.
My interpretation of the colour is a mid muted pink with blue undertones, on the MAC website it states it's "Pink lady pink (Satin)"

A swatch :) :
And here is Well Dressed with Raposdy in Two over the top:

On the right is the combo, and the left the only Well Dressed you can see that by adding Raposdy in Two it gives a lovely pink-gold finish to it it complements a tan (weather fake or not) very well.
